After having four babies, you’d think we’d know how it happens by now…I mean how to build a great baby registry by now;) I know there are continually bigger, better, new baby items coming on the market, but here are our tried and true:
Sleep
Hatch Sound Machine
Dream Egg Sound Machine
Swaddle Me By Your Side Co-Sleeper
Beside Bed Co-Sleeper
Swing | Sleep Sacks (Small and Medium)
Waterproof Crib Mattress Protector (2!)
Crib Sheets (our favorites-SO cozy! Get at least 2!)
Super Soft Blankets
Summer Muslin Swaddle Blankets (for boys, gender neutral)
Travel
City Select Double Stroller
If you hope to have more than one baby, I recommend investing in a single stroller that later transforms into a double stroller, like the City Select.
BOB Double Stroller (for runners)
Toddler Travel Potty Seat
Light Travel Crib
Ergo Baby 360 Carrier
Boba Wrap
Yes, I use both carriers. My newborns tend to prefer the Boba snug and close and as they grow they prefer the Ergo.
Osprey Hiking Backpack
Basic Toddler Umbrella Stroller (great for airplanes + quick trips)
Stroller Frame (I used this more than anything to click a sleeping baby in carseat into! Make sure to double check carseat compatibility.)
Portable Highchair (we love this for camping or travel)
Pack and Play
Shopping Cart Cover (spare that sweet little one the germs in the grocery cart and restaurant highchairs!)
Baby Car Mirror
Pack and Play Bamboo Mattress
Car Seat Protector You will want this to protect your car’s leather or fabric from the carseat indenting it or from spills
Uppa Baby Stroller (for those with bigger budgets)
I did not put a carseat on here because I recommend getting a carseat that is compatible with the stroller you like. Consider a bug net for your stroller/carseat choice as well.
Toys
Skip Hop Standing Activity Center
Skip Hop Activity Gym
Skip Hop 2 in 1 Seat
Floor Tiles (if you need a soft place place for wood floors)
Activity Cube
Skip Hop Stroller Buddy
Skip Hop Grab and Rattle Toy
Silicone Building Blocks
Stacking Cups (for in and out of bath!)
Feeding
Convertible High Chair Seat
Grabease First Utensils
Sippy Cups
Dishwasher Safe Silicone Bibs
Baby Food Squirt Spoon
Toddler Utensils
OXO Kids’ Bowls
OXO Kids’ Plates
BPA Free Toddler Cups
Kids’ Hydroflask
*I purposely left pacifiers and bottles off…babies are PICKY and every brand is different. You will likely need to try many brands to find the right fit.
*After owning both, we opt for a high chair seat instead of full-size high chair because it takes up less space, is easy to pack up, and can convert to a toddler booster seat.
*Don’t just register for baby items, think ahead to toddler essentials.
For Moms
Freshly Picked Leather Bag
Petunia Pickle Bottom Carry All
JuJu Be
Grey Diaper Bag Backpack
Disposable Breastfeeding Pads
Washable Breastfeeding Pads
(I like having both washable and disposable. The disposable can look crinkly through bras so I wear washable going out.)
Breast Therapy Pads
Hand Held Pump (for on the go)
Pump
Breastmilk Storage Bags
Organic Nipple Cream
Boppy Pillow
Wellness
Rectal Thermometer (gross but most accurate for newborns)
I recommend having 2 different types of thermometers to compare.
Nail Clippers
Nasal Aspirator
Hair Brush
Baby Bum Brush (to apply diaper paste)
Bum Paste
Baby Lotion
Pacifier Medicine Dispenser
Toothbrushes
Bathing
Skip Hop Bath
Baby Shower Head
Bath Water Thermometer
Baby Shampoo (our favorite for sensitive skin and cradle crap prevention)
Baby Bath Towels (get at least 2!)
Spout Cover (avoid head bonks!)
Stacking Cups (fun both in and out of bath)
Toy Boats
I highly recommend avoiding any rubber, squirty bath toys with holes for water to get in–they collect mold very quickly.
Clothing
Zutano Baby Booties (in multiple sizes)
Burt’s Bees Zip Pajamas (love the quality for the price)
Kickee Pants are the softest, coziest pajamas that stretch across a few sizes
Gigi and Max is also an adorable baby brand on Etsy for both zip rompers and gowns
Lou Lou and Company has our favorite newborn gowns and hats
Ruffle Butts is our favorite for girls’ clothes and swimsuits
SwimZip is our go to sim suit brand for our big headed toddler boys
Buy several sleep gowns for easy nighttime diaper changes
Don’t just register for new baby clothes, add 3-6, 6-9, 9-12, 12-18 month, etc. sizes!
Seasonal
I recommend getting a light coat, winter hat, bunting for the size the baby will be in his first winter and a sun hat, swim suit, etc. for the size the baby will be in summer.
Books
Don’t forget to add board books to your registry to start building baby’s library! You can find our favorite board books here.
