Indoor Toys that Encourage Movement

This post may contain affiliate links.

Ah winter, a mom’s best friend: All of her kids trapped inside, due to blustery weather, allll day long…NOT napping because energy has not been spent like it would if they were galloping around in the sunshine for hours. Anyone else feel me here?
Hence, a blog post on our favorite indoor toys that encourage movement. Whether you are looking for “non-toy” gifts for your next kid’s birthday gift or some physical education equipment for the home, we hope you find something that gets your little one moving and gives you a little time to catch up on life in the meantime;)

Spooner Boards – The boys received these as Christmas gifts last year and I love how versatile they are. While 2 year old Theo just spins on his belly, 5 year old Paul works on balance, and almost 7 year old James is attempted to master the tricks! Also, balance is so important to work on as a foundation for almost any physical activity kids will learn in life. They are somewhat pricey but DURABLE-one of my main requirements these days.
Balance Pods– Once again, we are encouraging balance. Some of the surprising benefits of these balance pods that I did not expect were sensory development for the 1 year old (she loves touching and rolling them) and creativity-the amount of games my boys create with these is impressive (“Don’t fall off into the burning lava or pond with an alligator!”)
Plasma Cars– Ok, so these may not require the kids to move on their feet, but my kids spend hours on these and they go hard. Sweat is always rolling and boys are fully entertained-a WIN!
Pogo Jumper– If anyone offers me a product that guarantees my kid jumps his brains out until he sleeps like a rock the whole night, I call that an investment.
Stomp Rocket– Yes, go ahead and get the double over the single. This can be an inside or outside toy, a great weapon for battle đŸ˜‰ and requires jumping. A fan favorite in our house! Just a fair warning-if you are using it outside, do so farrrr away from the roof!
Jump Ropes – Call us old-fashioned but they are great for cardio and continue to offer new challenges for all ages!

Any other mom out there who CANNOT spin and handle the dizzy levels once you’ve had kids? It’s like my organs never found their way back home. Cue mom watching the spinning from the back corner.
